Before adding a product category, confirm that you can source the goods reliably, verify their specifications, store them safely, and answer basic buyer questions. Start with a range narrow enough to maintain accurate prices and availability.
Check whether products need special labels, handling, permissions, or a regulator review. Assign responsibility for product records, expiry or batch checks where relevant, and updating the public listing when a supplier or package changes. Record why each item fits the category and what buyer question it should answer. Review whether customers can identify and compare the additions with existing stock before committing more capital.
A wider catalogue adds work as well as choice, and a test assortment does not guarantee demand. Compare your own costs and customer questions after a limited trial; pause expansion if accuracy, safe storage, or fulfilment begins to slip.
