Ask which part of the quote concerns the customer. Show how labour, materials, travel, testing, or specialist work contribute to the total. Do not disparage competitors or invent discounts. If appropriate, provide a lower-cost option with clear trade-offs.
Prepare a calm explanation of the work and cost basis, then invite the customer to compare the written scope with the question they raised. Ask which line is unclear before defending the whole price. If an alternative is possible, change the scope transparently rather than discounting the same work without explanation. Do not disclose another customer's rate or private supplier terms to prove your point.
Ask the customer which part they are comparing and whether the scope is the same, then answer that point directly. Offer a lower-cost option only if it changes deliverables or materials honestly. Record any revised scope and price in writing before work starts so the customer can make an informed choice.
Keep the original quote and any revised scope in writing. Use your KobStore page to explain standard inclusions; create a profile so customers can compare the offer before they enquire.
