Inspect the copy being sold, not another book with the same title. Note writing, highlighting, stains, loose binding, missing pages, or absent supplements, and say where the defect appears. Keep each copy's condition separate when several editions or copies are in stock.

Photograph the cover and useful examples of wear, and check a selection of pages and inserts before describing the book as complete. Do not rely on a cover image to show the inside condition.

A used book can still be useful, but do not call it clean or complete if it has marks or missing material. Describe its edition and condition in your own words; a buyer does not need copied textbook passages to judge the copy. Mention whether writing is limited to a few pages or appears throughout.
